Positive Thoughts, Positive Action
When we think of positive affirmations, we often think about overzealous wellness ads, not our own self-care. What’s regularly overlooked however, is that the health of our mind is just as important as that of our physical body.
Granted, positivity has been a recent hot topic as our world adjusts to the changing tides of the covid-19 pandemic. Some days are more optimistic than others and amid huge global change, a little encouragement never goes a miss. However, it’s easy to forget about positively affirming yourself, when so often our focus is on others. It’s natural for us to all feel a little off the chart. But on reflection, it’s important to focus on positively affirming ourselves daily, as we move into a new phase of normality.
So, how do we, moving forward, introduce more meaningful habits of self-care into our daily lives?
An affirmation, by definition, is a statement of encouragement, i.e., to comfort or to uplift. Simply put, affirmations become part of our both subconscious and conscious self and over time, a powerful part of our reality. The aim is to energise, uplift, and inspire.
- Write down acts of gratitude or moments which you are proud of.
- Focus on the positive and important aspects of your life.
- Take 5 minutes each day to reflect, repeat your affirmations out loud or write them down in a journal. Repetition is the key to understanding!
- Never start or end your day on a bad note.
Example Affirmations
- I am more powerful every day.
- I am more than my fears.
- I am confident in my abilities.
- I trust that I am on the right path.
- I trust myself to make the right decision
